Rohkunstbau XIII
Program opening July 8th, 2006
http://www.rohkunstbau.de/

We cordially invite you to the opening of the Rohkunstbau XIII exhibition on Saturday, 8th July, 3p.m. at Gros Leuthen castle,Gros Leuthen / Spreewald.
During the next nine weeks, from July 9 - September 10, 2006, Rohkunstbau will once more be presenting an outstanding exhibition and an extraordinary festival of site specific arts in and around the lakeside castle of Gros Leuthen.

DREI FARBEN - BLAU / Three colours - blue is the motto of this year's Rohkunstbau. Starting with feelings of freedom and moving towards freedom as an ideal, Rohkunstbau XIII will examine the ambivalence of a term that is often misused, misinterpreted, and politicised in a variety of ways. What is the meaning of freedom today, especially in what is generally thought of as the last bastion of freedom, the world of art? Which constraints must necessarily be imposed upon freedom, and which can never be accepted?
We proudly present new site specific installations and projects by the following artists:
Vasco Araujo (P)/Sylvie Barre (F)/The Blue Noses (R)/Monica Bonvicini (I)/A K Dolven (N)/Hannah Dougherty (USA)/Mona Hatoum (GB)/Langlands & Bell (GB)/Melanie Manchot (D)/Gregor Schneider (D)/Costa Vece (CH)/Michael Wesely (D)

The title of Rohkunstbau XIII follows the trilogy Three Colours: Blue White Res by Polish filmmaker Krzyzstof Kieslowski and marks the beginning of Rohkunstbaufs own trilogy along similar lines.
