Festival
14th - 17th SEP 2006
The DokuArts Festival, a brand new festival for films about
art and artists, will take place 14-17 September in Berlin.
The IMZ is a partner in the Festival, which aims to be a major
European platform that fills the gap left by the all-too common
media coverage of the arts that is, at best, cursory. DokuArts
therefore focuses on diverse feature-length documentaries that
either explore art and artists, or that themselves possess an
artistic quality. Moreover, many of the subjects and/or filmmakers
will be present to discuss the work with the public.
This year’s Festival will focus on 3 themes: Canada, Artists
at Work and The Public at Work With Art. There will also be
a Producing Films on Art forum, where professionals from the
cultural sector will discuss the challenges involved in producing
documentaries about art. DokuArts Festival was initiated by
filmmaker Andreas Lewin and established by the Academy of Arts.
