Welcome to Dance on Screen 2006: Tue 31 October - Sun 5 November

http://www.theplace.org.uk

Whether you are a filmmaker or film aficionado, Dance on Screen ? the UKfs premier dance film festival ? is your opportunity to see the best in dance film, and join a forum for new and established artists to express and share their vision.

This year, we received 280 works, representing 30 countries across the globe. Join us for 6 days of talks, shorts, documentaries and installations, presenting the work of well-known filmmakers and choreographers, as well as fresh new talent emerging now.

The Dance on Screen festival was established in 1995, in response to a growing trend for dance artists to create work for film, and for filmmakers to experiment with movement. The festival has grown in size as the artform has flourished. In 2004 Dance on Screen presented over 50 short and feature-length films from around the world, alongside talks and a masterclass. We took a break in 2005, and are looking forward to an exciting festival this year.

Dance on Screen is part of the MAD Media and Dance Network.

MAD is a non-profit international network of media and dance festivals, centres, archives, and independent curators. Among the main goals of MAD are to serve as a resource to media & dance artists and programmers around the world and to establish an exchange of information and ideas in the field of media & dance.

As representatives of their national media & dance artists, MAD aspires to explore different possibilities for both curatorial and artistic collaborations worldwide. In this way, MAD hopes to promote genres such as dance screen, dance installations, dance-technology hybrids, and computer-based dance to new audiences.
